Do Remember! The Golden Era of NYC Hip-Hop Mixtapes is a book I wrote and curated with my partner Evan Auerbach that was released in October ‘23 via Rizzoli. The book is an oral and visual history of the mixtape scene in New York City, spanning the late ‘80s to early 2000s, featuring interviews with the most popular and influential DJs, artists, producers, store owners, label executives, and industry tastemakers of the time.
To announce the book’s release, Hypebeast spoke with Evan and I about the book for an exclusive feature–read it HERE. And I’m happy to share that along with the announcement of the pre-order of our book, it went #1 on the Amazon - Rap Books New Releases list, and #3 overall on the Amazon - Rap Books Best Sellers list! Here are some images/excerpts from the book.
And finally, some post-release highlights, including when my kids saw the book for the first time on a display at Barnes & Noble, a launch party at Kith with Mister Cee on the wheels, a visit to Shade 45 with Kid Capri, a shout out on Drink Champs, and an article by the one and only Jon Caramanica in the New York Times.
